The worst blogger in the world!

Ok let's see....I believe it's been months since I've last written.  It must be if the last thing I wrote about was my son choking on a teething biscuit.  Since then he has learned to walk, has gotten 4 teeth, turned one and has cracked me up on a daily basis.  Life flies by and let's face it...blogs get neglected lol.

Well I have discovered something about parenting.  When your kid gets sick...or gets shots...or has anything happen to them that make them scared or hurt...I can't even describe the horrible feeling it gives you inside.  I am learning how to deal with this little by little.

Last week I took Orion in for his 1 year well visit to get his checkup and vaccines.  I was dreading this appointment the entire day because he is old enough to realize that I am letting someone hurt him but still to young to understand why.  We didn't have our regular doctor who is really great with Orion.  We had some random guy (one of the partners of the practice) who didn't have the same non scary vibe.  Orion didn't like him from the start.  He screamed from what seemed like the moment the doctor walked in...until the moment we left.  The Doc came in and checked him with the stethoscope.  Orion screamed bloody murder which is odd for him.  I wondered the whole time if the doctor would be deaf when he was done.  Then we had to hold him down for the the doc to examine his ears.  I never realized how strong my son really is until i had to try and hold him down.  I hated every second of it.  And I was so afraid to let him go because of the one doctor that made Orion's ear bleed from jamming the scope into his ear while he was moving around.  After that we had to traumatize him a bit more by letting someone prick his finger while Tony held him down.  By this point I was drained but knew he still had 4 vaccines to get.  So we waited...and waited for the nurse.  Instead, the doctor came back and proceeded to tell me that Orion's white blood cell count and lymphocyte counts were elevated so there would be no vaccines that day.  He told me I had to schedule another appointment to get him retested to make sure there was nothing wrong with him.  On top of that during his exam he said Orion's legs need to be examined by an Orthopedist because he has a wide gate and is worried there is something wrong with the bones in his legs.  So this week is full of doctors appointments.  I know in my heart everything is ok...it has to be.

Attack of The EVIL Teething Biscuit!

Just imagine....your happy baby is sitting in his highchair num numing away on a rather large, tasty, teething biscuit that is as hard as a rock.  I mean...you could throw this thing at a wall and it might put a hole right through it.  I know you other Mamma's know what I am talking about.  Then all of a sudden it turns to mush and a huge piece breaks off and lodges itself right down your child's throat.  What the fudge people?!  That is what happened to Orion today.  In an instant my mommy instinct kicked in and my fingers were in the back of his throat pulling it out and scooping up my petrified little boy.  Why on earth would they make things like that for babies?  It says on the box..."Due to their hard texture, children should always be seated in an upright position and supervised while eating." It should have read..."Due to the fact that these biscuits are completely hazardous...while feeding them to your child...watch them continuously until they choke so that you can save their lives"  That would be more appropriate...wouldn't you say?

On a brighter and more cheerful note...Orion turned 11 months old today!!  My little man is now only a month away from his 1st birthday.  This year went by in a blink.  They say time flies when you're having fun...that saying couldn't be more appropriate for what has happened this past year.  Now to plan an unforgettable party that he will eventually forget lol.  Eh...that's what happens when you are one I guess :)

He started to walk...I started to RUN!

This is it...history  in the making...my first blog post lol.  (goes blank lol)  Well let's see...I am pretty sure those of you who read this will find out interesting tidbits of my life as I write...so I won't try to jam pack it all in this first post.  As for right now...It's quiet...and I find this time of night to be my zen moment.  Orion is asleep...the hubby is asleep...and me...just loving the silence.  Orion has started walking this past week.  Watching him take his first steps almost caused me to hyperventilate.  The excitement a mother gets just from watching their child grow up is hysterical and amazing all in the same breath.  He has decided with this new found freedom (which he hasn't quite mastered yet...but is getting there) that he no longer has any use for any of his once favorite, stationary forms of entertainment.  So we say so long to the Octagon (or as we call it his UFC fighting cage) full of toys that kept him safe,  his exersaucer with the singing chameleon that sings "red..yellow and bluuueeee" over and over again, his pack and play that he would hang out in while I take a very quick shower each day...lets have a moment of silence and say farewell...to my freedom..and hello to his :)! I can't really complain...I am too proud. Also it is getting me into pretty good shape.  As he wobbles off doing his Frankenstein walk...I run behind him catching him as he falls over...which right now is quite often.  He thinks it's hysterical...so much so that I think he falls on purpose sometimes.
